While any connection between these dragon-spiders and the meteorite eggs cannot be determined, it is clear that these creatures are not meant to be in this environment. They are breeding in large numbers and expanding unnaturally; while their true origin can only be guessed at, it is clear that these hybrids do not live in harmony with the land. While our dragons are themselves unnatural in origin, otherworldly even (extraplanar), they possess an intellect and can be brought up in intelligent society and reared properly so as to live a life in harmony with both people and the land.
These creatures, however, are not intelligent. Theirs is a feral yet cunning, malicious even, bestial form of life. Something must be done about these creatures, because soon enough there will not be one hive, but many; once it grows too large to sustain easily, they will spread outwards and create other smaller hives that will themselves grow larger. The sylvians predict that all of the land may be consumed by them if they are not culled here and now.
Yet, they are very dangerous, possessed of the ferocity of a dragon, spiked limbs like spears which are each capable of impaling a man, and with a cunning strategic mind like that of a spider. They are at their strongest in their home, crafted by them to their benefit and comfort, an alien environment to beings like ourselves, a hive of overlapping tunnels and resin-like webbing, like a dragon's lair twisted and corrupted.
What plan shall we put into place to stop this unnatural plague of hybrid monstrosities?
