Are they familiar with her?“I met one of your lot in an earlier block.” You keep an icy distance from the acolyte. “Said she was after lichood. I presume you’re after her?”
“You would be correct. She’s but a lost lamb led astray from her flock and we’ve come to shepherd her back.” He responds coolly. “She’s young and zealous, and with that comes some unfortunate misapprehensions. We do not spurn our humanity for power. We only seek affordance from death–an affordance to continue where humans cannot.”
“Yes, yes.” You wave off the nonsensical religious jabber. “I hear your leader’s come down here to retrieve her. Is that true?”
“You must mean Mother Ingrid.” He smiles elusively beneath the hood. “Yes, she has come to personally escort our lamb back to the surface. We came to provide support in her journey downward, but.. she truly is wonderful. She had little need for our own magic, such is her skill. We are only here to help receive the lamb and bring her back.”
“Mother Ingrid..” You grimace. “She’s skilled with magic, then? Do you suppose she could break a set cursebound armor?”
“Oh? Do you seek her help?” He steeps his fingers. “Such a matter is trifling for her–the trouble is in whether she bears interest in helping you. Mother Ingrid moves on her own whims.”
“Is she nearby?” You look the cultists once over–none of them seem like the leader type.
“She’s outside the shrine, in the midst of a ritual to purify our lamb of her sins.” He tilts his head. “She’ll be done in short–or, if you’d like, you can move ahead to get a glimpse of the ritual yourself. But it may be difficult for one such as yourself to understand.”
