>Find a way to stay in Vallaki. You need to meet with Lady Fiona Wachter. She clearly wanted something from you, and some divine sense tells you that the fate of this town hangs in the balance.
A couple hours later...
"Urwin's not here right now," Danika says. "But he trusts me to act on his behalf. What can I help you with?"
Danika is Urwin's wife, and she co-owns the inn. You've seen her around, usually in the background with her children when you are talking to Urwin.
"I'd like to stay here in Vallaki," you say. "If that's... at all possible."
She looks at you unblinking, an expression of near horror frozen on his face.
"I... um... understand, if that's not realistic," you say. "I just feel like I would be skirting duty if I left now. I need to see things straight and follow up on a promise I made to meet with Lady Fiona Wachter. Do you know if there's anywhere I might be able to safely stay in the town?"
"No, I understand," she says, regaining her composure slightly. "You can stay here, but you must keep a low profile."
You look around as though to see if anyone is listening; thankfully the coast is clear. "What if someone comes looking for me?" you ask, your voice low.
"I will lie," she says.
"You will lie? For me?"
She winks. "You fled town this morning, along with Ireena, along with that nobleman. I will see that Urwin tells the same story."
"How will I repay you? Surely this is risky for you. Why would you do this for me? Thank you."
"It is risky," she replies. "But you have shown great character. It's very rare for people in this valley to have integrity. I suppose we consider helping you to be a good investment... a protection of the interests of good."
You think you are pretty good at spotting liars. To your surprise, Danika seems sincere. Urwin has seemed sincere so far as well - he has been nothing but helpful since you arrived, and he's asked for very little in return. Is it really out of the goodness of their heart that they are aiding you? This family intrigues you. But you do not say any of this out loud. You simply nod in appreciation, telling Danika that you will do whatever you can to return the favor.
"Remember our wine shipment problem," she says. "No one has taken up the task."
"But wouldn't that require leaving town and risking getting caught?" you reply.
"Yes. So leave it for now."
"What about Lady Wachter?"
"I will see if Urwin can find somebody to bring her to you. There is nothing wrong with this, as long as you're reasonably sure she won't just take you back to prison."
"She pulled me out of jail on the condition that I meet her today," you say. "And she didn't speak very highly of the Baron. I think it will be okay"
"So be it. Please return to your room. We will summon you if there is any news."
