As you telepathically reach out to experience the world around you, several presences brush against your mind. You feel numerous lesser ones, their thoughts muddy and indistinct, and a looming figure that seems to be drawing closer. You curl up tight and focus. The more time you spend thinking, the more you become able to feel your own body. Tendrils are wrapped snugly around your torso, as you bob in nearly depleted fluid.
Casting out your mental network even further, you're stunned by a titanic presence. It's as though the tendrils of thoughts that you're sending out are slipping right past it on contact, unable to even comprehend its immensity. Before you can spend time exploring it, or even shrinking back, you feel something strike your egg.
The first major presence you felt, which is still dwarfed by the ancient mind, seems to spark with excitement. It bashes your egg yet again, and you feel your whole world shake. Terror floods through you, and you immediately swing your head. Your snout smashes against the eggshell, sending cracks spreading across its surface. Light begins streaming in, and the presence is cowed by the action. You attack once more, breaking open a small hole. Again. Again. Your head darts forward in quick succession, until the gap is wide enough for you to burst through. Your eyes are already functional, but even the low light is blinding after an eternity in darkness.
You're surrounded by rocky earth, sitting within a shallow depression in the ground. A dripping ceiling sits high above, and your nostrils are immediately overwhelmed by the sheer breadth of sensations that flood through you. Alien sounds rush in from the gaping hole that the light is coming from, and you wonder if this is another egg you have to emerge from.
The mental presence nudges you again.
