>>5806143> believe this is a form of reasoning or philosophical idealism known as transcendental immaterialism which elevates consciousness / thoughts concepts as the highest forms of reality (ideas as the only real and knowable things) opposed to empiricism and physical experience. The ultimate refutation of immaterialism would be the "it from bit" theory, eg if the entire universe could be deterministically computed from beginning to end with an algorithm. The Morrisonian supercult extrapolates this into the realm of multi-author serialized fiction, very applciable to quest as an artform as well.
>this is the paradox of materialismBut not really. if the brain is "just" electrical and chemical signals spread across a material substrate, so is the flower, and all the data about that flower and the experience of it is no different from the data that is "you". A snapshot containing a small amount of flower data has been added to the brain data and modified it prior to the file transfer. My brain would not contain the whole of the flower's information, but could if it was compiled and scanned... provided neither I nor the flower have anything spiritual or supernatural outside the realm of matter, energy, and the patterns we call 'information'.
