>>5547982>hanger spaceNothing's finalized yet, but as of right now the carrier has five hangars. Three large and two small ones.
>modular systemMost of the ship's parts will be modular, but the ship itself will not be.
However, there will be a large space on the lower deck made of modular panels, which can be quickly rearranged for any purpose.
>they don't need to necessarily be carried internally all the timethe four large hangers will be capable of holding up to two small or medium-sized corvettes each, depending on their design.
however, the entire bottom of the carrier is covered in maglocks and mounting brackets, allowing it to dock theoretically any size of ship, including another carrier.
>I assume that we aren't going to Imperial Star Destroyer and Tie Fighter kind of carrierKinda sorta. It's a carrier, but you best fucking believe it's heavily armed. The outside is covered in pulsed point defence lasers, heavy beam lasers and, most importantly, a fuckload of these
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3FGiNRyGqgThe top has some large-scale rotary cannons, ultra-heavy lasers and some literal, straight-up naval cannons.
There are only two naval cannons, and they essentially exist as a middle ground between the rotary cannons and your "fuck you" button, the spinal-mount railgun.
They'll fire something along the lines of pic related, and at that size can obviously carry a wide variety of payloads, up to and including nuclear or antimatter charges.
>fiber opticsI was already planning on this, yes. Fibers leading out to the hull will culminate in the bridge, creating a near-360 view of the outside without relying on electronics at all.
>Stations have dark energy/matter detectorsSee SHODAN's subspace resonators. They can be used to detect wraiths, as well as transmit data wirelessly through walls.
>Warp metal, a wonder material. You'll probably never have enough to meaningfully use as armor on a large vessel, and it would be incredibly heavy anyways.
It may have uses in other projects, however. Besides that though, you have Duranium, which is pseudo-warp metal in terms of durability. It's used to armor critical areas on the carrier.
>reaction wheelsThere'll be plenty of them, but this carrier is pretty big. Even with lots of them, it'll take a minute to swing the ship around using wheels alone.
>can a simple layer of dark matter/blood paint really stop a strong enough wraithNo, but it's not meant to stop every wraith. Just the ones trying to sneak onboard. If it's strong enough to break through, David will feel it.
