“Brutal.” Vera said as she looked down upon the dead and dying with a scoff, “Those are the kind of creatures we must fight?”
“In time, yes.” TalOS admitted to her as he glanced at the last remaining convicts, a Tech Priest and Serial Killer, attempting a last stand. The Priest managed to produce a Plasma pistol that sheared into the creature’s eye, but that was not enough to stop it from rushing over towards him, “The Galaxy is a dangerous place.”
Vera was silent after that, instead taking the time to study the magnificent creature in all its bloodied glory. TalOS noticed that whatever color the creature was before did not matter now, for it was bloodied by the numerous pieces of corpse that now covered its flesh. With a sickening and practiced motion it reached over to lick one of the corpses from a spike, leading it into a toothless maw.
Where once there was a cheering crowd now the people were looking upon the creature with disgust. The creature before them was indeed a creature that had no qualms with humanity and was indeed one of their great enemies. It was at this moment that TalOS rose to meet the crowd.
“People of the Federation, while the creature has exacted upon the heretics the wrath we all feel, it does not carry with it the wrath of the Machine God.” TalOS said as the monster began prowling around to examine the crowd that were looking upon it, “That is the reason we expand across the sector and the Emperor of Man wages his war, to rid us of this filth.”
With those words the creature gave a roar to the crowd. It began to prowl and lick the blood off its spikes as it prepared itself for the next fight. As it did so another pair of doors opened to release out onto the field a series of smaller versions of that creature, each of them tearing into the flesh of the dead with razor sharp limbs.
“But we, the Federation, are not like these fools. For we have the Machine God on our side!”
Upon that announcement a gate began to open. Each of the monstrous creatures that were about the battlefield began to back up as heavy mechanical hydraulics walked into the arena. Decorated in bright red and gold colors the Knight Gallant looked out upon the people with a Ruler’s prominence. Just as he walked out two squads of Skitarii came out into the battlefield. One group equipped with the Shock Maul and Shields of the Secarii and the others were Skitarii Rangers given their Galvanic weapons.
The Noble Knight raised his chainsword into the air causing the crowd to go wild with righteous fury.
As they did TalOS announced, “Count Vlassis, show them the might of the Machine God!”
