Out of all of the beasts that they domesticate, the Protavic find themselves drawn to the smallest. Their name for the honey bee is brubul – the good bug. They hollow out logs so that the brubuc may build their hives inside of them, only to blow smoke into them so that the honeycomb may be extracted. That which is edible is prized as a luxurious foodstuff, but that which is not serves as an excellent source of beeswax.
This wax is used for lubrication and waterproofing, as well as the creation of figurines and even primitive cosmetics. The tribe considers a hive as valuable as a fully grown boar and hundreds of them are scattered throughout its territory. The Protavic are especially fond of bees and consider them endearing – children are often taught to emulate their hard-working nature and to strive to become as dutiful and obedient as the humble brubul.
A generation passes.
Frequent tributes of pork and honey keep the Bravigrovic on good terms with the Protavic, but the other tribe are not so lucky. One of them earned the ire of the woman-snatching clan and was scattered to the wind when their village was raided. The Protavic learn of this when several families from the fallen tribe arrive in their territory and beg for sanctuary.
They call themselves the Pragradravic – those who make shelter. There are almost a hundred of them in total and they are known for their thatched huts, which are far sturdier than the primitive tents of our clan. If they are allowed to dwell in Protavic land, the tribe may benefit from their expertise. This may come at the cost of destroying our tribe's truce with the Bravigrovic.
They could be accepted. No matter the consequences, the Pragradravic will be accepted by the Protavic, along with all of their traditions.
They could be assimilated. These refugees are welcome, as long as they abandon their old ways and embrace the lifestyle of the Protavic.
They could be enslaved. The hut builders are only welcome as long as they serve and accept that they are now the property of our tribe.
They could be denied. The Protavic cannot afford to earn the ire of the Bravigrovic like this tribe did. They will have to find somewhere else.
They could be given to the Bravigrovic. They could be offered to the woman-snatchers in the place of the usual tribute, as a gesture of good will.
What should our tribe do with the Pragradravic refugees?
>Accept them.
>Assimilate them.
>Enslave them.
>Deny them.
>Give them to the Bravigrovic.
