>>5369295Belatedly, it dawns on you that Boleski, too, might be in danger if they mistake him for a bird, but you won’t allow that to happen on your watch.
“Hey! Assholes!” You shout just loud enough for the robots to hear you, hopping around in place and waving around so they’ll sense you or something. It makes you feel like a complete and total idiot, slight embarrassment roiling in your chest, but it ends up working far, far better than you expected when, in perfect sync, about a dozen beady, red eyes have their focus set on you.
“PEST CONTROL SEQUENCE ACTIVATED. PEST IN SECTOR B2.” Movie robot intones once again.
Excellent…
The chatter and low sound of multiple robots revving up tells you it’s high-time to book it, several sets of skittering limbs following suit. You’re not sure how many are chasing you, but you’re confident you and your team can definitely break them.
‘Tsssss–’ The smell of molten metal rises fills your nostrils, a sure sign that Boleski’s at work.
“Watch where you shoot that stuff,” Julia says as she runs past him, only to fire a volley of shards at the swarm.
One of them makes their mark, impaling one of the bots, but Julia’s crystals are no match for the automan’s tenacity, the demon-bot remaining undeterred.
“PEST IN SECTOR B1.” Movie-bot chants in affirmation.
While you think Julia could take down the bots with a few more crystal shots, you think it will take way too long if you stick to that method.
“Let’s bring them back towards Boleski.” You fire back to Julia, who’d been running right behind you and the swarm.
