>>5500640hehe I am still here, but I think the players abandoned my quest. I put a lot of effort into making the virtual tabletop miniatures and dioramas, but I don't think anyone really made any use out of them, or were too committed to the characters and the game. I am actually surprised anons who are serious DMs are not all just running using Roll20, animated maps or other virtual tabletop software (though I dislike the conference call experience, I always played theatre of mind).
I mainly improvised this game, it was really just an experiment for me to play with this free 3d virtual tabletop app and use some of the gigabytes of my hoarded art collection, as well as a nostalgic throwback to what I did with tabletop as a DM vs my preferred narrative diceless games (that feature no elves or dwarves or goblins hehe only humans). hehe I guess the simulation was too accurate because just like real life tabletop most games get abandoned by players lol. What I would also say is that virtual tabletop makes improvising easier but also makes the encounter and scenario generation more formulaic, less imaginative. For example I have so many amazing maps of caves dungeons and forests, but I really wanted a good pagoda tower (for some setting reasons). There are so many castles, but good versions of that battlemap are not easily available. I also really want to do a 19th century Victorian setting, with a very specific look. Not enough good battlemaps for the aesthetics I have in mind there. And naturally the style of it becomes more like a videogame, based on physical actions moving and fighting, vs intangible emotion.
The last scenario was this one, but I think I will leave this for the time being, not enough committed players. This quest had no greentext choices it was write-in only, so it was a high-effort one.

Most of my miniature portraits and art come from artstation videogame concept art and general image search.
The inspirations for this quest included the film Stardust (I am obsessed with that lightning pirate ship flying sky galleon), the Vincent Baker rpg Under Hollow Hills, HeroQuest and Fighting Fantasy games including Dungeoneer! the first rulebook I ever read. Did you catch the obscure literary reference to Brave New World by Aldous Huxley (you thought this was about medieval ASMR ?! hehe)
