>>5786622“I know he hurt you kiddo, but, as terrible as this sounds, maybe this was for the best.” you say, Chaya's brows furrowing as she looks at you as if you've suddenly grown another nose. “Doing what he did, acting like its all your fault, maybe he wasn't right for you.”
“Right? For me? What do you mean?” she asks, sounding just lost.
“Sometimes people aren't meant to be together forever. Some people are only in our lives for a short time, then either us or they leave the other behind.” you say, not seeing your daughter in front of you anymore, lost to those memories a moment. “Sometimes, people just... Drift apart.”
“Did that ever happen to you?” she asks suddenly, incisively. “Were you close to anyone before Momma?”
“A long, long time ago.” you say as again you see memories from your childhood. But she's long dead and gone, buried on Planet Vegeta and blasted to nothing more than dust when Freeza destroyed that dead world. “But it was never meant to be. Sometimes you have to know when to just... Move on. Go kick his ass if you have to, or if you really don't want to see him again yourself I can go break his legs, if you want. But the best thing you can do is move on. Find someone who truly loves you, who wants you for who and what you are and not in spite of that.”
“Y-Yeah. Yeah, you're right Daddy.” she replies, reaching up and wiping her eyes with the back of her glove before giving you a small smile. “Screw him, I don't need him anyways! I'll find someone who really deserves to be with me!”
“That's the spirit.” you say, standing back up and setting your daughter on the ground, then gesture at the bars. “Now, how about we get to work?”
“Right!” she exclaims, sounding far more enthusiastic as she leaps up, grabbing onto the lower bar. You smile, jumping up and grabbing your own, you both counting out your reps together.
The workout goes a bit longer into the morning than usual, after all you started late, but it is a good one. You can tell she's still angry, but no longer blindingly upset. Instead, she's channeling her emotions into the workout itself, using them to push herself further. Then when it's over you both shower off, then go get breakfast with the rest of your family. However, when it's all over, you all preparing for the rest of your day, you get the feeling that Chaya hadn't given you the entire story. Something else was going on between them, something in her story was missing.
