The taming and training of wolves as companions spreads through the Vuvovic caste. Even the more traditional blood-drinkers begin to pick up the practice. These beasts are trained for a variety of purposes – for tracking, for guarding and for combat. However, as the work of the Vuvovic means that they cannot remain in one place for long, the task of raising the offspring of these beasts falls to their Anamilivic families back by the Croglatol. The keeping of dogs becomes a common practice in our tribe's heartland, where they are trained to guard property, herd swine and provide companionship.
Ever since the Protavic people first learned how to train beasts, the wolf was one of the many animals that they trained. The domestication of this noble species had already begun but with this development, the process shall accelerate dramatically. Eventually, after enough generations, they will transform from wild wolves into domestic dogs, as precious and important to the tribe as the humble honey bee.
A generation passes.
It was bound to happen eventually – all of the pieces were going to fall into place at some point. By tying art to language and by giving meaning to symbols, a clever tribesman was able to devise a method of physically recording information – a method that he taught to his family and that soon spread to others. Before long, this written language was being used by his entire tribe – the Toprocravic tribe.
To begin with, this script was devised as a method of keeping track of the long, droning sing-song stories that they use to teach each other of the past, a remnant of the culture that Bruslavic migrants brought with them long ago. However, it didn't take long for the Toprocravic people to learn that this language could be used for far more than transcribing history. Already, it is being used to record inventories and send messages over great distances, without the message being forgotten by a fallible courier.
To begin with, Protavic visitors were baffled by the hoard of bones that the sealskins keep, all of which were covered with nonsensical runes. However, the more trustworthy traders were eventually taught how to read and write in this language by their Toprocravic hosts, a talent that they brought back with them to our tribe.
