*this seems too simple. there must be something more. you casually mention to a crew mate that you feel like you forgot something in the briefing at Raoul and he reminds you that you suffered a strange bout of weakness and werent able to make it to all of the meetings. he tells you that you can find a secret file on the harddrive*
...
*after looking for about an hour you find a file labeled "Instruction for the operation of walking" You find it a bit silly, eveyone knows how to walk. you decide to take a peek and see what they have devised for toddlers. it's password protected. you enter your credentials and read the file*

Instruction on the operation of Walking.
TOP SECRET
There is a vast network of Nodes that can be used for Walking. To perform a walk be certain that you have the necessary modification on your submarine. If you have the proper additions to your submarines navigational system, then make you way to a Stepping Stone. We have found experimentally that even very large submarines can Walk using a Stepping Stone. All that is needed is for you to navigate to the room of the stone, and tell your terminal to Walk to another stepping stone which is in your navigational data.
it is unknown how many Stepping Stones are in the network, and unfortunately it cannot be brute forced, as the Stones seem to understand what you have named them. That is why it is vital for the network to be found. Unfortunately, Steppign Stones are very evasive to radar, and finding the rooms that they are even contained in takes a special modification as well.
