For reasons that you were beginning to deeply regret, you raised your hands so as to receive the eyes. Benga nodded slightly, wound her hand back and tossed them with full force in your direction. You caught them both easily, but you couldn’t help shivering as sleek blood coated your hand and seeped through your gloves a bit.
Surprisingly, the eyes didn’t feel soft or squishy like real eyes should, so you could only assume that they were cybernetic implants. They really were like marbles, after all.
You spared a glance for the girls, just to see how they were handling themselves. Benga was dancing and dodging around her oncoming assailants as if she’d rehearsed this. You had a hard time believing that anyone other than the cowboy would even have a chance of laying a hand on her. There were a few close calls, but that was mostly due to her hair flopping around with her each and every sharp movement.
Her partner, the one with the dark hair, was simply waiting and watching with a relaxed smile on her face. Despite her being the one to steal the hat and break it, everyone else had all but forgotten her presence after what happened to their leader. And you couldn’t blame them. Shit was brutal.
After a few seconds, you saw the girl glancing in your direction as if to say “Feel free to step in at any time”. She clearly had no intention of risking her own neck any further than she already had.
Not wanting to miss this opportunity, you created a web sack to contain the eyes and shoved them into one of the pouches of your utility belt.
>Hypnotic Eyes have been placed into your inventory!
With that out of the way, you scanned the room for an appropriate target. Who was the one you’d had the most trouble with in your previous engagement? The elephant? But how were you supposed to…aha!
You chuckled to yourself, and fired a pair at the dangling boat prop attached to the ceiling by a series of wires. With a sharp tug, you managed to snap the hooks and restraints holding the prop vessel in place. You continued to pull as the boat creaked and strained against the steel wires, steering it towards the elephant that hadn’t noticed what you were doing yet. By the time its large head swiveled to face you, it was already too late.
Seeing what was coming, the elephant rider jumped ship just in time to avoid having your ship slam into him. The gargantuan beast let out a loud, trumpeting cry as he toppled to the ground, clearly in pain and unable to get up. You were careful to hit it with the underside of the mast, so as to not run it through with the wooden pole. You were not at all in the mood to clean up elephant guts.
Predictably, the sound of both the impact and the elephant’s cries had drawn the attention of the others. However, this time, you were ready for them.
