One of them tries to headbutt him. He catches it and sinks his knife into its head, deleting it immediately, but a new ally takes its place and pecks at his chest. The coat shatters and flakes away into particle effects, and the blunt tip of its beak bashes straight into your partner.
You pull your gun out and fire at it, trying to go for the eyes. They have some kind of beam that transforms digital matter to stone, you really don't want to let them hit Astamon's body with it. You're extremely lucky that he has so many loose, flowing portions on his outer surface.
The malware packet strikes it, cutting its attack off partway. Some of the stragglers try to catch up and join the fight. They accelerate rapidly, a flickering red aura appearing around each sprinting one.

Astamon blows one's head off with a roundhouse kick. Another tries to get past him and attack you, but he points his gun backwards and blasts it full of holes.

Another volley of attacks hits Astamon, turning a portion of his arm to stone. You feel him start to panic through your link, but he remains calm on the outside.
