A campfire burned in the clearing they'd chosen. Night had set in at last. Of course, anyone smart enough knew that night was but an illusion in the eternal daytime of this world of stasis. The Sun and stars of the Milky Way Universe never moved, never shifted. The orbiting Moon in the cast cast ethereal moonlight by the act of the Rabbit Goddess, Yutu, to bring an illusion of night to Hainei's skies. The Moon acted as a curtain, painting the ground of Hainei that its light touched with a blanket of shadow.
At least the night could be said to be serene, uninterruptible by all but the most malefic of apparitions. Shengesia did not have such problems.
And still, Spray Guy was finding trouble.
"I don't wanna sleep on the ground..." He moaned and bitched; "Can't you just turn a leaf into a bedroll or something with your great powers?"
"I dun' loik to use me powers loik that." Seannsa grumbled; "It's petty and unnecessary for us gods."
"...I mean, I-I don't really think you have any right to call anything petty but..."
"What wassat', mate?"
He threw his hands up. "U-gh! Nothing! I was just saying maybe if I gathered enough leaves into a pile...!"
"Uh huh..."
Seannsa and her Greymalkins, they had it easy. They simply went back into their house catlike shapes and rested on the dirt as an animal could. In their true feline forms, they felt little discomfort, especially next to a fire they got going with sticks and a little Spiritua.
Spray Guy pouted and looked about. He wasn't sure what he'd do. He really did not want to be on the ground. He supposed he could simply lay against a tree... but it was a clearing, they would all put him away from the fire and he'd get cold! What to do, he thought.
Summers was taking this well, despite the prior event, sitting on both knees in the stoic posture of a Samurai. But she was awfully quiet. Catastrovania was a demigoddess now, and similarly felt no discomforts. She remained standing, arms crossed, by the fire. She could stand there like a statue for years and be completely fine and without any soreness.
Spray Guy huffed. "This is bullcrap..." He muttered, coming over to the fire and sitting down on a rock. He hoped maybe he'd get tired enough that his body wouldn't have a preference so he could doze off on his back against the dirt.
>Oh! Ooh! Campfire story time! This is the perfect time for it!
>Wonder if the berries out here are edible...
>Maybe if he begs Seannsa hard enough, she'll crack and help him out....
>You know what? He hasn't had a chance to take a leak since they left the Bunker.
>Good thing he brought his harmonica along.
>Guys, what are those things up there on the trees staring at us?
