"Kyaah! I wasn't underestimating anything! And I always want the best for Master~!" Herta moaned out.
Not long ago, none of you thought this conversation would be happening. Thinking that the Bandit King was supposedly going to die soon. However it was discovered that he wasn't actually poisoned— the Bandit King apparently just claimed it.
"I think he just wanted you to believe that it wouldn't matter if you killed him or not." Mel said when that topic came up. "So he'd either be let go, or be given an explosive death."
Ruby huffed. "Did he truly believe he could trick my Master? Fufufu~! He doesn't have the cleverness, handsomeness, or intelligence! Unlike my wonderful, gallant, Master~" The amount of trust she had for you was pretty cute. Though you'd have to show her some extra affection to make her realize you aren't annoyed at her, since she was the type to overthink things. Maybe you'd roleplay as the Baron again, and do some mindgames on her.
"Yeah! And now all the bad guys working for him are dead, too!" Bertha added.
"Good riddance." Ruby took another sip of tea. "How can he, with no subjects and his 'kingdom' in ruins, be called king?"
"He wasn't much of a king to begin with." You said.
"He's pretty much just your average crime lord." Mel added. She was right. The Bandit King was basically just some guy that united a bunch of bandit gangs to better do crimes.
"And what of his so-called class, hmm?" Ruby continued. "I don't believe I've heard of a 'Heroic Fighter' recently renounce his noble titles to become a common bandit. And it couldn't just be some lowborn, considering that, a few centuries ago, the reign of King Edward Boarhewer III forced the 'Hero' classes become high aristocracy or be executed."
"It's possible a few hero bloodlines might've kept their adventuring ways." Gerty said. "But it's likely the Bandit King is one of the many that lie about their heritage to make others follow them. Like how those traitors in the Aquatainian coup-attempt claimed to be of 'Heroic' bloodlines, when they were merely landed gentry of the 'Commoner' class. It gives me reason to believe Ayane is correct when she says the Bandit King exaggerated about himself."
"He's a true charlatan." Ruby Rose summarized.
And so the conversation went, without a clear decision on what to do with the subjectless bandit 'king'. Though it was generally agreed to hand him over to someone else.
You made sure to give Cattleya, Gerty, and Ruby some private 'special dates' with you. The three of them are in much better spirits because of the quality time spent with you.
As for the Bandit King himself, he was thrown into a small cell that was methodically fashioned. Countless traps (courtesy of Mel) and your armored clankers kept him from escaping. A radio was installed to make sure you'd know what he did. Turrets were made, and his prison was basically a dungeon cell of stone, making sure he wouldn't be able to dig out.
