>>5349538There is only one thing to do. Focusing your mind, you gently grab onto your wife and each of your children, lifting each of them up just enough that you can slip out of bed unnoticed. Broly stirs a bit, but doesn’t wake as you side out, then gently set them all back down as if nothing’d happened. Letting out a small sigh of relief, you grab a training suit before silently walking out the door, putting your clothes on in the hallway as it shuts. As you’re pulling on your gloves, you’re surprised to see that you’re not the only one awake at this time.
“Orlen?” you ask, barely above a whisper. “What’re you doing up so early?”
“I couldn’t sleep.” he replies, really looking the part with the bags under his eyes. “Watching Chaya take that beating left me unsettled all night. I take it that’s where you’re going?”
“Yeah.” you reply, the two of you walking side by side towards the medical bay. “She got hurt bad this time.”
“It wouldn’t have, if she had just listened.” he says, surprising heat behind his frustrated voice. “I TOLD her that this challenge was going to be different and if she took it lightly she could lose her title, if not her life. If you weren’t there....”
“She could have lost everything.” you continue for him, the two of you getting within view of the medbay’s door. “If I hadn’t gotten a tip off that things could go south, I might not have even gone.”
“Wait, who leaked it to you?” he asks, you glancing aside then tap the side of your head with a finger.
“Someone not from this timeline.” you telepathically answer, seeing the immediate confusion, surprise, and worry all warring on his face. But before he can ask any questions the automatic door slides open, and you walk inside first. Being that your Ascended Berserker body is just small enough to get through, turning a bit sideways. He follows you in, and the two of you see that Raditz is awake, he and Dr. White staring intently into the healing pod your daughter is in. And immediately sense that something’s wrong. “What’s going on? Talk to me.”
“Karn? But how-?” Raditz starts, Dr. White turning fully to you with a familiar look on his face. The one he always has when you show up injured, trying to hide how bad the damage is to the patient. This can’t be good.
“Something is wrong.” the older doctor says, confirming your suspicions immediately. “Your daughter should have been awake around three hours ago. But still she does not wake. And that’s not all.”
Oh hell, what ELSE is going on?
