>>5433972Yes the graphics were incredible when I saw them, it ruined a lot of other RTS games for me I played CnC much much later, sci-fi and orbital cannons and psychics and nuclear weapons lol are cool but I was not as impressed by the handful of units you could build compared to the spam hundreds of waves of muskets and cavalry from Cossacks. I heard though that hardcore rts people looked down on Cossacks as being a less skillful game than the other rts games in the genre, but I have not played enough RTS to really judge.
The last 4X game that I played was AOW Planetfall (on console), I was really impressed by the diplomatic options you could get in that game (eg open / close borders, there is also spying, propaganda and you are heavily punished if you declare war without casus belli, your population morale declines a lot and they revolt etc) and there are Amazon genetically modified Super-Warrior Women riding laser Tyrannosaurs in bikinis (they look cool but if I remember they are not that effective). I was only playing against AI but I mainly adopted my rts / 4X spam wave strategy again lol even against the so-called rock/paper/scissors design of the game, I think aerial units are overwhelmingly strong (just the fast movement, mobility). So rush air tech tree research and spam produce them etc.
