>>5744295You hardly need to think about it. You promised Eulalia you’d pierce Gungnir through Odesse’s heart, and you had no intention of breaking that vow. You grab the newly forged spear, place it on your back, and head out to meet up with Leif and the others. While you swear you hear a few snickers from your men as you walk through the camp, they’re likely just a figment of your imagination.
“Blair!” Leif calls out enthusiastically. “That armor suits you! I daresay you’re the spitting image of a great Sreng warrior.”
>“Save the flattery. I look ridiculous and I know it. Are these the two bodyguards you’d mentioned?” You address the two unknown figures before you that are standing close to the prince. One is a mild looking, but otherwise pretty redhead, while the other is a rugged-looking blonde man with a mean scowl and several notches on his belt. A large sword is strapped to his back, and the look he gives you hardly serves to put you at ease.“H-hi! Pleased to meet you.” The redhead says, bowing before your presence. It seems that like a few of her allies that you’ve encountered thus far, she can speak your language fluently. “I’m Kayla. If you get hurt out there, just come find me! I promise I’ll take care of all your wounds. If I don’t live up to your expectations, you can take it out on me however you like! I don’t mind!” You notice a faint blush creeping up the Sreng cleric’s cheeks. You’re not sure why, but you feel a sense of unease around her.
>“Right…I’m…sure that won’t be necessary…“I ngach áit a théann mé, ní mór dom a ghearradh.” The blonde man says abruptly. Unfortunately, since Ronan is not here, you’re unable to get a translation for whatever he just said.
“This is Seamus.” Leif intervenes on the swordsman’s behalf. “If it weren’t for Cormac, he’d be our First Blade. He’s a peerless swordsman all his own. He was to be our fifth champion during the Cúig Triail, though it proved to be unnecessary. You’ll find that both of them will be more than adequate at holding their own.”
>“I’m sure I won’t be disappointed. And what about you? Will you be okay during the fighting?”Something mischievous flashes in Leif’s eyes for just a moment. “Rest assured, though they may be my bodyguards, I’m hardly a pampered pup in need of protection. Once the fighting breaks out, you’ll see for yourself what the prince of Sreng is capable of.”
