When Dame Danaca speaks to you her shamrock eyes remain fixed on a point just behind you, as if she were in fact addressing someone just over your shoulder.
<span class="mu-i">“You know of the oath I have taken at the end of the Long Walk?”</span> That was hardly a low-profile event, but the certainty with which the coral-haired speaks reminds you of someone. <span class="mu-i">“To reclaim our lost homeland of Ardenne?”</span>
<span class="mu-i">“I had heard speak of it. But many men say many things. It was not until I saw you in the real that I knew it was you.”</span> Dame Danaca then turns aside to address the group of sword sisters, seeming to gaze through them to an invisible larger crowd. <span class="mu-i">“It was here on the shores of our forefathers that I was bid wait for he. And lo’ he is come.”</span>
Most of the sword sisters present look on with raised eyebrows, later you learn that Dame Danaca has barely spoken more than one sentence at any given time in her entire year-and-a-half service in the Dragon Guard. But several of the sword sisters are watching the exchange between you and Dame Danaca with intense focus, hanging on every word as if they too have been waiting for this. She turns back to you, her eyes again gazing at some prize or goal in the horizon behind you. With a finality that you don’t quite appreciate at the time, her next words are more of a declaration than a decision.
