He ducks away from your swing, jabbing twice and trying to retake the initiative. But you have found your second wind. Experienced swordsmen in the audience comment with surprise as the match they had thought well and truly decided still hangs in the balance.
An expert slice at the edge of your shield catches the strap, a blow like that on an unarmoured hand would have removed it at the wrist without a doubt. As it is, you’ll probably have a bruise on that hand and the shield now hangs loosely at your side. Any assumptions that the match was over are put to rest when you tear it off and fling it to the side, stance ready. Hopefully Fabio or Jess will pick that up before some urchin runs off with it.
Both you and your opponent are tired now, you can see the man’s linen shirt soaked with sweat and his wet hair plastered across his brow. He’s still fast, damn his eyes, but he’s not as fast as he was a few long minutes ago…
