If there was something more to this man, then the best way to find out was by holding nothing back when fighting him. Nathaniel sported thick armor, but you had just the answer for it in the form of your Hammer. You swap to the blunt weapon and focus on your foe, leaving Butch to deal with Adam on the other side of the arena. Nathaniel’s axe was massive, and even if you’d been the one equipped with it, it would still be incredibly unwieldy in an actual fight. Yet a single hit from it would inflict massive damage. A high risk, high reward weapon.
As you wait for an opening, you hear an announcement from Kosmas.
“Floor Guardian 15 has been defeated. Merit badges have been awarded to Arios and Leonora.” He announces
That was as good a cue as any to go charging in. You rush towards Nathaniel with your Hammer drawn. The man readies for you, winding back his axe as if ready to intercept. His movements are slow though, and quite clumsy at that. Had he a less oversized weapon, he might have stood a better chance. The way things were though, you’d kill him before he even landed a single blow on you. Were these guys really supposed to be scary?
>Tristain: 39 STR + 8 (Hammer) = 47 - 36 = 11x3 = 33x2 = 66 DMG>Nathaniel: 11/77 HPA loud clang echoes through the arena as your Hammer bangs against Nathaniel’s breastplate. The Dagdan coughs up a mouthful of blood as he staggers back. His axe has been knocked askew, and you continue your offensive, caving in his chest as you hit om on your backswing. You hear the satisfying sound of bones crunching as his armor gives way to your weapon. Nathaniel’s Labrys was low to the ground. You’d kill him now and be done with it. Nathaniel lunges at you, but not with his axe. Rather, he grasps your shoulder.
“Ealain Sabaid: Crìonadh!”
A flash of light from the man stuns you as you recognize the telltale sign of a Crest’s activation. You’d seen this emblem only in textbooks. A Crest long thought to be lost to history, belonging to one of the Four Apostles, the legendary companions of Saint Seiros. The Crest of Chevalier. Evidently not gone after all, but somehow present in Dagda of all places. You might not speak this brute’s language, but you understood Crests, and this man was using Combat Arts.
Your limbs suddenly feel like sap, as if all the energy had been drained out of them. As you try to will your body to lift up your hammer, Nathaniel is already on the move. He raises his Labrys high, and retaliates with a strike of his own, putting his full force and Crest behind it.
>Nathaniel: 41 STR + 25 (Labrys) = 66 - 31 DEF = 35 DMG>Crest of Chevalier: Nathaniel: 46/77 HP>Tristain: 11/73 HP (Resolve: +7 STR, SPD, DEF)Nathaniel attempts to plow you into the ground. His axe chops into your own breastplate in a retaliatory strike, nearly breaking every bone in your body and sending you to your knees.
