>Got a +2 to History of magic in regards to Ilvermorny and will make a connection or recall something shortly as you think about the middle-aged professor’s lecture which covered the growth of the school and Gormlaith Gaunt’s defeat
>You also got certain ideas about sibling with paired wands, given they let they Boot brother hold off one of the greatest Dark witches of the 1600s and your and Em’s wands mirror you both in that their composition and source of Dragon Heart-String are the same
You tentatively raised your hand up a bit, surprised your twin a little, since both of you were never any good at this subject. Still, if it helped at all, gave you any more tools? Might as well, even if you just ended up looking dumb.
“Ah! Miss… Sanders, was it? One of them at least?”
“Yes ma’am. Older twin, Jennifer.”
“Ha! This will be amusing, I suppose, keeping you and the girl next to you straight. Please come over to the side of the room. Take these twigs.”, the jovial woman commands with a small cackle.
“Okay. I-I did my readings, but I’ve never done this before.”, you say, a bit hesitant and walk over.
“Don’t worry dear, everyone starts somewhere; many people simply don’t have a talent for this field; many of my colleagues don’t even it is a real field at all, that even teaching it at all is a waste of school resources.”, and you just nod some; you had heard the things said behind Trelawney’s back over the years, how she was persecuted for a time just prior to the start of the War. “Simply grasp the twigs how you wish. Let your magic flow. Focus on what you need to find, focus forward, to see, then toss them in! There are common interpretations for certain arrangements, which we will be learning but the is also the witch’s intuition! And have fun with it!”, and the Professor lightly claps her hands.
So… you just try. Uncork your magic and toss them in, where they scatter and bounce before settling into a random mess. Stare like you could force them to tell you, their secrets.
It is in the very bottom of her robe pocket. Left. Left side of her robes, that is important..
You can look forward again, are better? Can interpret that mess?
Still hurt, but this is a quick glimpse, not complicated, life or death. I can tell enough. Don’t count on it saving us for a bit. And we are Seers, Jennifer, different from Diviners. That looks like a random pile of wood to me, about as much as you.
And for a brief second, you felt a jolt of surprise from your twin, for some reason.
“Good toss Miss Jennifer; now focus and when you are ready you can turn around and help me find that blasted quill.”
A few more seconds, looking to see if you really got anything from the Xylomancy itself, and you gave up, turned.
And Professor McDougal-Cross had her robes on backwards, which the class began giggling at, now that you were done.
Oh… oh you tricky…
