[HEALED RESTRAINT RECENTLY] Yet you resist the urge to do anything drastic for the time being. "Born this way." You lie through your teeth. "Now, tell me."
"Okay, okay. So a lot of my coworkers who are usually tasked for, like, cleaning the buildings here? All of them were being headhunted by this brand new cleaning company that popped out of the woodwork!"
"Apparently they were offering free visas to L-Corp's district as long as you signed up. Something about 'biohazards' and 'waste management.'"
Everyone in your group picks up on the super obvious euphemisms. Literally the only way it could be more obvious-
"And yeah, it's clear it's for some shady mafia group or something but $50k per year? Not bad these days."
"Did you get the name?"
"My coworkers were real stingy about the details because, you know, a way outta here isn't something you snitch to people about...but I overheard them saying the name Lion Eye Cleaners. Apparently Cleaner is both what they literally do AND the fact they're...Cleaners. You know. Two bits thugs you hire. They wear platinum hazmat suits or something."
Interesting. Two important names to look out for. You're not sure if the 'platinum' she's talking about is silver or if it's just a coincidence but you'll have to keep an eye- Wait. It just hit you. Hazmat?
[NICOLE SEEKER + KIARA SEEKER] "K-Corp?" "Were they, like, K-Corp hazmat suits?"
"Similar, yes. Why?"
Odd. You suppose that's another thing to worry about down the line. You do worry about checking them out considering they're Cleaners and Max's presence may cause issues there.
That's when Max decides to change the subject since she can tell the receptionist doesn't have much else to say about the Lion Eye group. "I recognized that look of fear in your eyes when we talked about the budget-" "W-what budget? D-Corp's budget and debt payments are being handled well. This is GOOD property."
[CORPORATE V.I.P] "Yeah, you probably know a Huxley is nearby. Who else is in there?" Max taps her fingers against the counter. "They have to be real important if you're trying to pretend D-Corp isn't a pit in the ground-"
"Shhh! I-I can't just be telling you-"
Max wipes away at some of the grease that's currently making her hair a dark brown. A tuff of greyish-blue hair is now visible to the receptionist. That's enough to crack the poor girl wide open. "A-A Kr-Krak..."
"Shh." Max promptly regreases it to hide her distinctive hair color. "C'mon. Do it for Ben's sake. Or Cassie." She gestures to the two, who are both smiling like goobers like now.
"F-fine. There's a representative of the Liu family in the room behind me. He's been guarded by a Maus and Huxley, they're both waiting outside. He's talking to Mr and Ms. Cruz about buying the apartment complexes here and a lot of the abandoned buildings in this sector of D-Corp."
"Did he say why he wanted to buy the land around here?"
"Dunno. Something about a Foxtrot?" Oh! That's very, very inter-
You hear a door open.
