>>5752130Screaming in anger, you lift the man up into the air, still on your spear, and slam him back onto the ground with what remains of your might. Whatever dark magic had been keeping him alive to this point finally gives out, and the Sage’s body breaks. As it does so, you notice the fog in the room slowly beginning to dissipate, with things returning to normal.
>Stats Regained>Side-Objective Complete: Land the finishing blow on Odesse with Gungnir>Blair: +4 Max HP, +3 Charm>“Kayla!” You shout, turning your blade upon Bennett and his men. “Tend to Leif, quickly!” “Ahh! You’re shouting at me!” Kayla scurries over to the prince’s side. Though badly hurt and rasping, he’ll make it.
“That was marvelous, Blair! Fantastic! Simply fantastic!” Bennett claps loudly and enthusiastically, laughing all the while. He extends his arms out as if seeking to embrace you. “Everything I’ve heard about the famed Witch has proven to be true! Your blade is sharp, but your tongue is sharper. You have the right of it too. These damned snakes think too highly of themselves, and it finally leads to their own downfall. He underestimated us at his own peril, and look where it led him? Thousands of years he walked the world, only to end up dead in a tent outside the one place he hated most. If he wasn’t deserving of far greater contempt, it would be almost tragic.”
>“He isn’t the only one that’s going to be lying here. I came here for two heads, and I plan to get my second.”Bennett frowns. “Is that so? Not that I mind, but I thought your struggle was with the Agarthans, not I. Just like you, I believe they are the greatest enemy we face. Far more threatening than any side of this war. What did I ever do to you?”
>“Beyond labeling me a witch and marking me for death, you mean?” You ask, somewhat taken aback by the Patriarch’s flippant nature. “There’s also the matter of you collaborating with this snake to usurp the church and destroy Garreg Mach.”“I simply did what I needed to accomplish my goals.” Bennett says dismissively. “Like it or not, I am the Voice of the Goddess, not Rhea. I am her prophet, and it is I who has received her divine message. Now that Odesse is dead, my partnership with those fiends is at an end. I care not what occurs at this siege, nor who sits in this cathedral. I have my mission, and I intend to see it through. I appreciate you ridding me of that pest once and for all, however, I have no time to waste on you.”
Bennett’s guards have tightened their ranks. Of the 12 soldiers that had been observing the fight, only 4 seem to have taken damage from Odesse’s spell.
