You let out a dry laugh. <span class="mu-r">“Funny. Tossa said almost the exact same thing when I spoke to her. You guys should be working together instead of starting wars.”</span> you said.
Croaker narrowed his eyes. <span class="mu-g">“Fat chance of that happening. Tossa just wants to claim territory and force the Redskins into her kingdom. She’d have everyone under her thumb if we didn’t try to stop her.”</span> he proclaimed. <span class="mu-g">“Tossa thinks this is all some strategy game like the ones that she played back home. I can’t rely on someone like that to protect us!”</span>
You shook your head ruefully. <span class="mu-r">“Killing the pirates won’t bring your brothers back. You can use the animals to protect them, but overreaching is just gonna lead to more conflict.”</span>
<span class="mu-b">“And if that happens, your friends and family are going to get caught in the crossfire. No one wins in that scenario.”</span> Black Cat argued.
Croaker closed his eyes, and his fist tightened around some invisible chunk of chameleon flesh. <span class="mu-g">“I know…”</span> he said, in almost a whisper. <span class="mu-g">“This isn’t for them. This is for me.”</span>
<span class="mu-g">“I think negotiations are starting to break down.”</span> Prowler said, adopting a defensive posture. Cat was behaving similarly, and you could only assume that the chameleons were preparing to strike.
<span class="mu-g">“I can’t have you guys running around screwing up my plans.”</span> Croaker said. <span class="mu-g">“Tossa might’ve been dumb enough to let you walk away, but I don’t like loose ends.”</span>
Some of the Redskins and giant animals were also moving to apprehend you, but Tiger Lily was just watching you, an unreadable expression on her face.
Callisto, Anastasia and Glass already had their weapons out and ready for a fight if it came down to it. You still needed to buy time for Peter to get back with Squirt, but you weren’t going to risk the safety of your team for a chance to make that happen.
