“C'mon Pippa, give 'er an' ol' over'and toss!” Jeice calls to his daughter, the young woman wearing her Galactic Little League baseball uniform and standing in the practice pitcher cage he'd built for her.
“But ol' man, everyone pitches under'and!” his little girl complains, hands on her hips. “Why do I have to practice an overhand?”
“So, you're telling me you just want to be like everyone else? You don't want to be better?” he asks her, the young woman's brows going up, eyes widening as you talk. “Avin' a good underhand is good'n all, but in the Galactic Little League, you can pitch both over or under'and. That means if you can pitch either, or switch between over an' under, you'll have a real mix. If they can't predict yer throws, never know what's comin' next, you'll be the best pitcher in tha whole league!”
“Really? You think I can be that good?” his daughter asks, Jeice giving her a big grin.
“Not only do I think so. But I know so.” he tells her, giving her a broad, toothy smile. “Now, give me an' ol' over'and, roight down the middle! An' make it extra spicy!”
“RIGHT!” she exclaims, taking her pitching stance. The Brench warrior feels his daughter's power rising, seeing the ball slowly being infused with her crimson ki as his daughter rears her right arm back to throw. “'Ere it comes! HAAAAA!!”
And with her shout fires a blazing fastball straight towards her father's glove like a comet. The warrior braces himself a little more than he'd been expecting to, her shot striking the glove true and hitting with enough force that, for a moment, steals his balance. Jeice recovers without falling, looking down at his still-smoking glove at his daughter's fastball before looking up with pride in his eyes.
“Now that's my girl! One hell of a toss mate!” he calls, the young girl smiling broadly at him. But then he notices her looking past him, Jeice turning his attention to seeing his wife standing there, holding his scouter and immediately realizes what must be going on.
“Jeice, dear, it's a work call for you.” she says, holding it out to him. To which he nods, turning back to his daughter and giving her another thumbs-up of approval before walking over to her. “It's the captain.”
“Awww, don't tell me you're gonna miss my game.” his daughter pouts, seeming very upset at this. But as Jeice takes the scouter, not opening the comm line yet he turns to his daughter, walking over and placing his hands on her shoulders.
