“Say, you got a phone?”
She shakes her head. “Sorry. I don’t have one right now.”
Great.
“Damn it, how long is he gonna be out for then? He said I could borrow his phone.”
“You’d be waiting a while then. Sure, he makes it sound like he’ll be back soon but really, its whenever. I asked once what he was doing for that long, all he said was ‘work.’ By the way, call me Lambda.”
“Alrighty Lambda, my name’s Domino. The guy you called Owner thought we had the same problems.”
An eyebrow raised in curiosity. “Really? You just appeared somewhere else entirely?”
“Well, in front of here. One moment I was in one place, pass through a door and boom. I don’t wanna go back to where I was anyways.”
She yawns, though not necessarily out of boredom of your plight. You can see the tired in her eyes. “How bad was it? Trying to get away from something?”
“Nope. Just wanted to be anywhere else. I woke up somewhere… Blank is how I’d say it? Somewhere I knew but it's all empty.”
Interjecting, Lambda seems to have the idea of what you were going to say next. “Was it all bleak, white and full of framework place holders? Yep, I think we were in the same place. Strange, I don’t think I would’ve missed seeing you there.”
“Well I spent most of my time climbing stairs. My legs are still killing me.”
“What stairs? The entire place was a single story.”
And the conversation continued. There might be several more places with these “Blank” variants but other than your school, there’s only one other known to you now. A popular street with trendy shops. Sees a lot of traffic, but not from your kind. Too far to walk and not much that interests you. Much closer to another school actually, but you hardly keep up with the going ons of your own, let alone one you don’t attend. Lambda gave you an address and instructions on how to enter the “Blank”, though the both of you are at a loss as to why you ended up here and not back at school.
