“This surprises you, I see. In truth, I’d not planned on attended this season’s meet. It is mostly a lot of strutting and noise, usually you will find me all too happy to miss that pavona Moretti’s grandstanding. Now that I am here though…” Captain Verdicci shrugs non-committedly. “We need supplies for the break to the Cathagi strait, this will take a day or two anyway. But for a little longer, a week at most, I can attend to some other business of my own. As for the College… it never hurts to keep one’s finger on the pulse of current affairs.”
The Captain is not asking for permission of course, this is his ship and he has the final say in how long the Coy Siren stays docked. But you get the impression that he is trying to gauge whether a slightly longer stay will go over well enough with his passengers.

> “The College of Admirals, eh? Sounds entertaining enough. As for this other matter… You wouldn’t happen to need an escort, would you?” The Captain’s apprehension indicates he has some other matter in mind, the kind where a good sword arm might be handy. And you doubt there is a better one around than yourself. Frankly you’re looking for any excuse to test out this new plate armour in earnest. [Haughty]
> “I can’t deny it would be good to stretch my legs on solid ground. See to your business, Monsieur Verdicci. I’m sure we can handle ourselves for a week.” Not a small part of you is excited to see the sights and peoples of this westernmost part of the world. Your pilgrimage is the priority, but there is no harm in seeing more of Langland than its coastline. Who knows if you’ll ever have reason to come here again? [Hearty]
> “Interesting but, as you said, not what we came here for. You have your two days, Captain.” You can hardly argue against taking on supplies for the voyage ahead, but you are impatient to continue your pilgrimage to Cathagi. You haven’t come to Langland to sightsee, who knows how long you could be delayed if embroiled in local affairs? There will be enough foreign excitement to be had in Cathagi, you’re sure. [Idealist]
