Lucian could hear the bickering of the Dwarfs and knew that they were not going to go anywhere soon. They were more than willing to bicker amongst each other in this place and keep them out, for the fire of their words was more than enough to keep them warm against this damnable cold. Such seemed true to almost all of those present.
As he gazed towards Adok, he could see the dwarf lowering his face in penance.
An oathbreaker he might be, Lucian was going to stand their ground, “Dwarfs of Ziflin! Does calling Adok an Oathbreaker really enough to warm yourselves in this damned cold that threatens to eat our flesh!”
“What was that Umgi?” One of the Dwarfs yelled as he leaned over the edge. What should have only been bother for a human was clearly written with angered annoyance across the Dwarf’s face.
They did not like being called out.
“We come to this Hold for it is on our way towards our Quest! The longer you leave us out in this dreadful chill is the longer that you keep us away from the Skaven and other terrors who we will tear through!”
Upon the mention of the dreadful enemy Lucian felt heat. What he might have first mistaken to be his soul willing himself to full might was denied as Lucian saw the brightness emanating from his chest. Invoking such an ancient enemy had been the right whisper to awaken the wrath of Grimnir.
“Who here will deny us this fate? Who stands between us and our quarry!?” Lucian shouted now as he felt the power of the rune flowing into his blood. Intoxicating as it was, Lucian held back the murderous rage while looking around to all those present.
The Dwarfs looked at him, silent all of them as they gawked at the sight of an awakened rune upon the man’s breast. Lucian could guess they did not believe that such a thing was before them but they could not disbelieve it.
“OPEN THE GATES!” Yelled one of them towards the gatekeeper, “OPEN THE GATES!”
Quickly, as one spoke it, it had grown into a chorus of declaration and cheer. The Gatekeeper disappeared for a moment before the gates before Lucian slowly began to open. Mighty stone doors somehow moving in a manner Lucian realized did not make sense to his human mind.
Without missing a beat, he gestured Nightshade through the massive doors.
