You take another drink and proceed to sit at the base of a beam of sunlight. With night so close at hand, it would be best to meditate in the forest rather than spend more time up in the trees. You return to the task of learning how to refine your methods of this new process and wait. An hour or so passes by when you feel a breeze blow over you. Soon enough you sense something coming your way.
"It's coming!" The small spirit shouts. It darts around you and seems to coil around your shoulders though it seems...fainter for some reason. "Are you ready? We have to go." It repeats before absentmindedly adding, "Did you talk with my uncle? You seem different." You stand up but don't say anything as waves of unease and wrongness crash upon you only to dissipate immediately after. The new power within you provides shelter and walls you away from whatever effects you used to suffer at night. Once again, you hear the screams and shouts of dismay as the mass of broken bodies begins to approach giving you the queue to run.
You turn around and dash between the trees, pushing yourself just has hard as you did the night before. With your mind now clear of interference, all you had to do was fight your own physical weaknesses and that was something you learned to do long ago. Ducking under some low hanging branches, you vault over a set of large roots and behind the trunk of the trees. All you could do was use the sounds of wailing to guide you as it the mass of souls made no footsteps despite it's broken and disjointed limbs. The game of hunter and the hunted had begun but you also begin to notice something as well. Trails would rarely lead to new areas before looping back into the path of the monster. It felt like every so often, you would break free from the souls' grasp and manage to avoid falling into it's power of redirection something that you had never been able to do so previously. Could this be another effect of this new power within you?
"It's getting closer." The little spirit says. "Are you tired? What do we do?"
>What do you do?
>Continue running. You can keep going and there's no need to try and risk yourself by testing new things.
>Try and completely break free from the monster's influence. If you can roam the forest freely then it would make evading it much easier.
>Try and hide your presence for a bit. Now that your mind is clear form the evil influence, maybe you can make yourself harder to sense.
>Write in.
