2038-07-11: Collating the experiences of the rest of the country, Iowa, Missouri, Indiana, and Ohio agree to a reasonably moderate interstate compact platform that is nevertheless a departure from what could be considered strictly constitutionally valid. Ironically, one of the key points of the platform is to highlight the illegitimacy of the unconstitutional legal enforcement the Patriot and Progressive governments have imposed. The Illinois legislature, which still skews liberal, rejects proposals to join with their neighbors despite intense public support outside of Chicago for the compact. Because of the location chosen for the signing ceremony as well as its central location, this alliance would become known as the St. Louis Compact. The continued constitutional stalwarts to the north continue to refuse to recognize any change which would challenge the legitimacy of the U.S. Constitution.
