Mages will be able to one tap you with one hit but they need distance to fully use their magic and since I lost my status and memories I can’t help make any runes. So always stay close, move constantly, and always fight dirty as there is no honor on the field.”
“Yes ma’am I hope to make you proud.”
“Well you did pick up my notes well. Like a prodigy.”
“I do learn from the best miss knight.”
“Well how can I call myself a knight if I don’t have my favorite squire?”
“Do I get a sword to help slay a dragon?”
“I can get you a wooden sword.”
“Close enough so all we need is a steed.”
“I got my motorcycle so we can use that to go on adventures to fight the mages. But first you must prepare for the fight. Now the next step is called Second Wind.”
“Sounds like an awful knight move. Well at least it is not something stupid like blade cutter.”
“Ehhh, don’t look up fancy sword names. So anyway you focus on your body and pump out a rush of adrenaline to get back up. While normal fights you would have normal amounts of adrenaline using this tactic will dump what reserves are left in your body.”
“Mind over matter type of thing?”
“More like a mind pushing matter out. You focus on your heart beat and flex your entire body at once, bite your tongue to use the pain and trigger a fight response.”
“Ugh, blood will get everywhere.”
“Okay, not too hard and use the Spare the Dying cantrip that I taught you to help stitch the wound back up if you bite too hard.”
“Sure, sure I will now what is next?”
“Well this week we will focus on hand to hand combat and next week depending on your progress I can teach you action surge.”
“This sound like a drug.”
“Nope is is natural and is used when yo-”
A pulsing headache stabs into William’s head as he clutches the side of his head as he drops several thought strings as he bumps into the table. Muffin immediately holds onto him as Virgil winces as he pulls out a knife and cuts his hand as he mutters under his breath as a white glow flashes on his fist as he taps William’s shoulder. Feeling a wave of peace wash over his as William shakes his head as he refocuses on the room.
“Your boss was a knight? Whoa headaches are stingy.”
“Ex-rune knight. Turns out she was one of the rare people with a conscience but got burned for it when her house fell due to politics.”
“She was the one that taught you anti-mage stuff?”
“Tactics and constantly interrupting their verbal or somatic casting but yeah. She couldn’t get a weapon and would get too much heat if mages see an Ords with a sword. So throwing hands was the only thing she could pass down. I tried Encode to get the memories but they did something to her memories to erase the important bits but muscle memory still stayed and help train me with a bastardized version of her class.”
