The metal burying Doom melted and pooled around him almost instantly, and his armor was nearly glowing white hot from the sheer intensity of the blast. A few seconds later, Johnny mercifully ended his attack, leaving Doom to simmer.
But before he could get a chance to retaliate, recover or escape, Reed rolled a purple cube of crackling energy at his feet. The cube immediately expanded to encompass Doom, and the molten metal at his feet reacted just as quickly. As if it was being manually manipulated, the metal rearranged itself into a complex cage-like structure that restrained all of Doom’s limbs.
Everyone other than the original four stared in disbelief, unsure of what to think about the outcome of the battle. It had all ended so quickly! Was that really it?
Nervously, Gwen glanced at Sue, and she nodded. All at once, everyone sagged in relief.
<span class="mu-r">“How much do ya wanna bet that this is another advanced Doombot?”</span>
Ben Grimm asked. You wanted to curse him for trying to jinx you like that, but Reed seemed to be considering that possibility as well.
<span class="mu-b">“It’s a strong possibility. It wouldn’t be the first time that we were attacked by one of his creations.”</span>
Gwen had a pitiful look on her face. She was likely wondering the same thing that you were. Was there another fight to be had here?
<span class="mu-g">“But…on a citywide scale…?”</span>
Sue nodded gravely.
<span class="mu-s">“You’ll get used to it.”</span>
Gwen let out a hollow laugh.
<span class="mu-g">“I don’t think I want to.”</span>
What will you do/say?
>”Does that mean that Doom probably doesn’t know about any of this? Are they all synced up like some sort of hivemind?”>”When did he make the switch? Was he always a Doombot? How does a robot even use magic in the first place?”>(Point up at Johnny) “Alright, you win. You have GOT to show me how to do that someday!”>(Look at Gwen.) Well? What did you think about your first big superhero team-up? Pretty exciting stuff, huh?”>”So, do you think you guys might be willing to hear Va Nee out after all this is done?
