You surge forward and take into your hand a long metal rod that has deposited itself in the rubble. You place the rod in between a collapsed wall segment and the pillar to create a wedge, allowing you to generate more force. The other free sister sees what you have planned and immediately comes to your aid. With the two of you working together, the pillar slowly rises. The Adepta Sororitas are trained to use their wits in a battle, but this one in her panic fell back on brute force. She should have known better.
The rod begins to weaken, and you can see it start to bend. Luckily your plan has bought enough time and the trapped sister wiggles herself free in time.
“My thanks sister, I knew the emperor would not abandon me.”
The older sister rubs her bleeding hands, “don’t lower your guard now, we still must get to the chapel.”
“What of the farmers? What can be done for them?” Despite being abandoned to her fate by the villagers, she still seeks to help.
“We must have faith that the emperor will protect them, for we cannot. We must get to the chapel, then the mother superior will give us orders.”
A wise decision from your elder sister. You have not the ability to protect the farmers, nor can you guess if their hiding place is more or less safe than attempting a crossing. The only logical action to take is for your trio to continue onwards alone.
