“..We’re set to leave the CORPUS DELICTI very soon.” The dhampir pipes up from the front, a hand on the rapier at her side as she cuts through the mist. “In some ways, we were lucky to fall through to the COUP DE GRACE–this route is a great deal shorter than the actual block, even if it is riskier. And we’re far less likely to run into any other contenders for the lich down here, whether it be stray monster hunter or one of my half-sisters..”
“I’ve never been this deep..” The doll murmurs, hands gently plying at her new font of hair. “What is the block after this like, Lady Ava..?”
“The block after this is the CORPSE. It’s the last true block–the one after that is very small, the lich queen’s domain. And the shrine ahead should be the very last shrine of the trip.” Ava recounts. “The CORPSE is.. unlike any other block before. A true apogee to the CATACOMBS. You may doubt your eyes when we first reach it.”
“I doubt much could make me doubt my eyes anymore.” The berserker mutters.
“Yes, well, we’ll see.” The dhampir sighs. “Ah.. here. There’s a split point.”
You raise your head up from your march and gasp–you’d not kept your head up, so to see such a sudden dramatic fall right before you all at once throws you off utterly. The waters of the COUP DE GRACE seem to converge here, a vast, black maw into which all the water of the block seems to flood down into an endless pit. A rickety wooden bridge hangs off one end of the ravine and into the fog ahead.
“We could take the route across the bridge or walk around the circumference of the drain here. If we go around, we’re wont to run into stray hungry monsters–likely far more dangerous than that undead earlier. If we take the bridge, we’ll have to avoid falling down, and.. just try not to fall off. You’ll drown if the waters if the waves don’t dash your body against the rocks.” The dhampir sighs.
>Take the bridge.
>Go around.
