You touch Coco’s hand discretely and drop Isaac slightly. She gets the message and does the same, leaving the maimed man closer to the ground in case you need to drop him and fight.
The monkey boy, clearly oblivious to your intent, gets within a few meters from you both before holding himself by the knees and panting.
“Oh man! I can’t believe I found someone! Finally!” He stands up straight and stretches after what must’ve been a grueling run through the sand.
“And how did you find us?” Coco asks, taking a step back and reaching for her gun.
“Saw your scroll reflecting the sunlight and followed the glare!” He finishes and jumps in place. “Thank the gods, I thought I was gonna have to walk alone all the way!”
“… what happened to your group?” You call Promised Return to your hand.
The boy yammers on like nothing. “I jumped first from the ship and this big, freaky Komodo jumped from the sand and tried to bite me! I had to use my Semblance to get out of the way and then the bastard backhanded me!” Coco and you ease up a bit. So it happened to him too. “It knocked my lights out, I woke up later covered in a pile of sand, and everyone had already left me behind!”
You share a concerned look with Coco.
“What’s wrong?” the boy asks, more curious than concerned.
