The land of Ylisse is split into three parts, the Kingdom of Plegia, a desert kingdom that worships the Fell Dragon Grima as their god of annihilation, it's current ruler is the Mad King Gangrel; The Kingdom of Regna Ferox, a cold mountainous kingdom that values physical and military might above all, it's current leaders are the Khan's Basilio and Flavia; and lastly is the Halidom of Ylisse, a prosperous kingdom that worships Naga the Holy Dragon, it's current leader is Exalt Emmeryn, a pacifistic ruler who wishes only peace unto her land.

And it is the Halidom of Ylisse where our story takes place, for the Exalt has two younger siblings, the just prince Chrom as the middle child, and the lovable princess Lissa as the youngest child, with the work of these siblings and their loyal retainer Frederick they have formed a Vigilance group who's job is to protect their Halidom from threats such as brigands and bandits of all kind.

And the name this vigilance group headed by the crown prince goes by are the Shepherds, which you are a part of.

But before we get ahead of ourselves let's start this story from the beginning, before you where a Shepherd, before you met the crown prince, before you even thought of raising your weapons for the good cause you where but just a childe.

>The Noble households of Ylisse as a child of a Marquis, living in a luxurious mansion where every request was granted by your father, this gave you an abundance of currency and a connection to other nobles such as the Duke of Themis or even the Royal household itself.
>A humble village far away from the capital, raised by hardworking parents you are thought honest work be it in farming, smiting or the art of bartering, this gave you skills in the more mundane aspects of life and connections to peasants as a whole.
>The streets of Ylisstol, raised in the back alleys of the capital with only an uncle as a relative keeping you as safe as an urchin could be, living a poor life you had to survive by using less then lawful means, this gave you skills in survival and general trickery along with connections to the darker sides of society.
>The cold winds of Regna Ferox born to a city guard, watching your father do his duty and going to the arena to watch the battles filled your childhood with the strength based society your homeland is known for first hand, this gave you interests in weapons and connections to Regna Ferox.
>The hot deserts of Plegia with parents both cruel and kind, the beginnings of your childhood was filled with war between Plegia and Ylisse, despite your parents not being Grimleal themselves you know of the Fell Dragon well like any Plegian, this gave you opportunity for brutality and dark arts along with connections to Plegia.
