A journey of Sinew and Steel

ID:bNZtecMe No.5145572 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
This is a story of Sinew and steel - a world much like our own, only where magic is just enough alive. Alive enough to make folklore true, where mages and witches can cast a spell, where the faithful zealots of men ward against the unholy, where werewolves stalk the night. But one of these creatures are unlike the others - Vampires. The vampires rule the night, and all but the youngest of vampires are a dominating force in combat. yet, they cannot rule brazenly, for their weaknesses are as pronounced. Even so, they do not equalize the playing field, far from it.

The sun will kill them
They cannot enter a residence of mortals without permission
True faith repels, and even hurts them.
Fire sears their flesh, and will kill them

Apart from this, the only way to kill a Vampire is to rip apart their hearts, something that is not even immediately lethal.

And you, you are now one of these monsters that stalk the night. You have just left the feverish nightmares that is the state of being a drone - a short duration of a few weeks where you cannot think, only consume, with flashes of your mortality, pain and despair searing through your mind. You try to come to your senses as to where you are, and you realize that you are chained to a dark, deep stone wall, covered in tattered, bloody rags. You try to remember who you are, but your memory is clouded in deep, dark fog. yet, at least you can remember your own name right?

>Write in a name

You try to reclaim all that you can remember, and it is at least something. The year is 904, by the grace of... Your mind sears as you try to picture it, but it seems as you are accursed to not even think of something as pure and holy as that. You are, or at least were in Lombardy, northern Italy. The fog clouds your mind again , as it has been tumultuous here for a long while. You try to collect your mind to regain what you remember of your past.

>You are a commoner in the city
>You are a Farmer, or perhaps a ranger that live outside a larger settlement
>A sellsword for trade, you are a mercenary, at best. Bandit at worst.
>You are a noble, with a scholar upbringing.
>Write in (other)

Finally, you look down at yourself, you are:

>Male
>Female
