A Familiar Quest - #1

The warmth of the sun was always at its finest this time of day. When the clouds above turned purple and the ocean below rippled with sparkles of orange. Curling up by an open window let the cool breeze of the autumn evening pass right through her fur. Yes, this was what the black cat Eliza looked forward to the most. Just some nice peace and quiet, and all the time in the world to do nothing but loaf. When another gust gently enveloped her, curious traces of blue coursed through the strands of hair along her coat. Isolated above a cliff's edge, the home of Eliza's owner, Dahlia the Witch, was as comfortable to the cat as it was since the day she was first summoned here. Dahlia was something of a recluse so visitors here were a rarity, and most of the vast house's inhabitants were of the magical variety. Her Master’s mansion was grand, yes, but sometimes all that was needed to improve one’s mood was a little nook like this. Eliza didn’t like to talk about it, either, lest someone come find her and spoil the atmosphere.
“Eliza! Oi! Eliza!” Like that. Who could that be other than Edgar the Raven, Master’s other companion and Eliza’s fellow steward. One may have heard that ravens were a dignified and respectable animal, but if one had only met him they would assume they all had a stick up their bum. Maybe that was the case?
“Get your lazy pelt out here! You hear me, Eliza!” Her winged pal yelled. This sounded really urgent. Haha. Actually, Edgar gets like this even for minute news. Eliza swore he was proud of how loud his voice can boom. If there was so much as a jar misplaced, everyone had to hear about it. No doubt the flying bundle of frustration would find her soon. That this was her favorite room might be a tidbit Edgar wasn’t aware of, but on a good day he was fast enough to scout out the whole mansion three times over in a single evening. Relaxation has just become a foreign concept.
