The year is 2025. 12 years ago, Armageddon arrived. The world was bathed in nuclear fire and billions of people died. During the attack, people scrambled into the Metro system in order to save themselves from their impending doom.
We are in Basil station. Here, <span class="mu-b">Governor Kozlov</span> has been in power since Armageddon. A former Red Army sergeant of 65 years, he is known as a quiet and neutral man, preferring to sit on his fence instead of taking sides, all in the hopes of keeping Basil station safe and prosperous. He formed a council of 5, including himself, to discuss station issues.
Militia Commander <span class="mu-r">Boris Ivanovich</span> has petitioned <span class="mu-b">Governor Kozlov</span> to form a Rangers Committee, with the support of <span class="mu-g">Head Doctor Lidya Litvak</span>, <span class="mu-s">Farmer Representative Svetlana Gagarin</span> and <span class="mu-s">Worker Representative Mikhail Stepanov</span>. The proposal was drafted by <span class="mu-s">Lyudmila Popov</span>, an expert ranger who has traversed the entire Metro system in the name of Basil station and has now returned to settle into station affairs.
You will control the station’s Ranger squad in 2025, soon after its formation:

The proposal was not approved without offering favors and promising early results. <span class="mu-g">Head Doctor Lidya Litvak</span> is the first to be pleased, you will undertake an expedition to a nearby hospital to gather medical supplies for the station. Your task is to head to Iliad station to the southwest, a 2 hour march, then to the outside world through its broken hermetic door and towards Lyansk District Hospital, another 2 hour march. There, you must gather as many supplies as possible and then head back to Basil station.
05:30. The four rangers are preparing their gear in the armory. Gas masks, tactical vests, helmets, pre-Armageddon rifles, the works. Martin yawns, he’s only slept 6 hours, Katya seems rather focused in cleaning the visor of her helmet. As Pavel puts bullets into a magazine for his <span class="mu-s">AK-74</span>, he addresses Sergeant Popov:
[Pavel] “I’m guessing that if we fail here. Litvak will retract her support for us?”
[Popov] “You’d guess right.”
[Katya] “That’s some bullshit. They all know they need rangers to bring them surface goods if they want to live longer than two or three decades.”
[Martin] “We either play by their rules or we go offer our services to another station. No two ways around it.”
