“And thanks to Doctor Cretaceous, Sovereignty Day was saved from Hephaestus’ evil plan,” a news reporter stood on the screen in front of the Oscana capital building , a relatively new building for the relatively new, small country. Behind her, a man wearing a suit that once allowed him to connect with all of his gadgets and inventions was shoved into a police cruiser, while a man in a modified lab coat with a Triceratops head stood guard over the arrest. The reporter ran up and got the heroes attention, the now much closer reporter revealing the absolute size of the hero. He stood roughly twice the height of the 5 and a half foot tall reporter, and was so broad in build that the cameraman was forced to take a few steps back to fit the hero in frame.
“Oui? OH, hello Miss Ilyina! I hope my battle with Hephaestus didn’t ruin your country’s celebration,” the large man said, turning fully to face the reporting. On his belt he wore the symbol of the Western Hero League proudly, though he seemed to be avoiding pointing it directly at the camera. “His Aggregation Weapon might have caused some damage to the buildings in the area, along with…My own clumsiness I’m afraid.”
The square of the capital was indeed looking like a heroic fight had taken face, scorch marks from lasers, craters from impacts, and an imprint of Doctor Cretaceous’ saurian head could be seen in one of the outside walls of the capitol building. The reporter waved it off “Oh it’s all minor damage, easily covered by the Western Leagues damage payout no?” She asked, holding the mic up to Doctor Cretaceous, stretching her arm and standing on her tip toes in order to not make him bend over. He still did but only slightly.
Rubbing the back of his neck he nodded, smiling as best he could with a look of embarrassment “Yes of course, the league has a special fund as always to cover damage caused by its heroes, though I'm willing to bet they don’t particularly like me all that much.” He said, laughing a bit at his own expense.
“But enough about all that, please tell our country and myself just how you were able to stop Hephaestus in time? He had barely started his opening speech before you were charging at him.”
“Oh of course, well for starters I must clear up a misunderstanding. I am just the muscle in this whole thing, the real credit goes actually to one of your local heroes!” Doctor Cretaceous said, turning with a smile as he began looking around for someone “He called me while I was visiting a Colleague of mine in your local College’s Paleontology department.” He said, briefly glancing at the reporter to see if she reacted to his paleontology comment, noting she did not, and looking a little dejected continued “He had found evidence of Hephaestus’ villainy but… Merde I don’t see him. I believe he goes by” Afterthought”? He was very curt and professional.”
