The kingdom of Vanerland has always been plagued with a taint. The one we call the Rot.
Even before the kingdom, in the times of the empire of the Ravens and before that, the inquisition has existed, in some form or another, combatting the Rot that Spreads.
The year is 1650, King Alfred X rules. The city of Rosepeak stands tall in the center of the kingdom, fed by the wide and strong Rose River. The high rectorate of Vanerland is housed in the walled center of the city along with many other official buildings charged with the good governance of the kingdom. The inquisition has always been an independent institution, free of the power struggles of the kingdom, only interfering when its existence was at stake, and it was, many times, and each of those times the inquisition dealt with its opposition and persevered through the ages, not losing sight of its purpose.
Your name is Valina Strotov, referred to as inquisitor Strotov, a foreign child from the Principate of Gorodska who lost his parents in the civil war, adopted by the inquisition for the sole purpose of preparing you for your role as a warrior against Evil. Though you are young and understand little of the many political machinations the inquisition must submit itself to in order to persevere, you have always regarded your fate as an inquisitor with:
>Fervor. The inquisition serves many higher powers of order to defeat the Rot, and you believe it has not lost its way.
>Indifference. It was your fate, you had no choice in it and now take it as it comes, never finding true purpose to either the institution or yourself.
>Reluctance. You did not choose this life, and though you see purpose in fighting the Rot, you’ve never felt fully loyal to the inquisition itself.
