Tejanan Revolutionary Warlord Quest #1 - The Old Order

ID:ZRflxz2p No.5208274 View ViewReplyOriginalReport
For nearly a whole generation, your country, Tejana, has been under the rule of one man - Proximo Paez. Through political skill and courting the gringos in the north, Paez has held onto power for decades. Around him, his government has grown old and calcified - more focused on selling out Tejanan land to the Columbians and getting fat on the profit than any of the democratic ideals they pretend to hold.

You don't care much about that, though. Born in the 1880s, you're just entering your late twenties. Whether you're a villager who's land has been stolen by the planter aristocracy of the haciendas or a middle class professional frustrated with the regime's abject refusal to uphold liberty and Tejanan honour, what matters is that you're far from power, and angry.

The year is 1910, and though the world does not know it, Revolution is about to come to Tejana, and you will be one among many who stand up to lead the angry people against the old order. Whether you will rise with the fire or be crushed by the boots of reaction is up to your wits, your gun, and fate.

>Who are you, caudillo?
>A small-time bandit, desperado and outlaw up in the north. You're not a bad guy, whatever the wanted posters say. You know how to use a gun and ride hard through the mountains to escape the Federales, and just like everyone else you've been hit hard by the recession. You love your people, you hate the men who hunt you, and you're ready to do something about it.
>A rancher, owner of a small farm out in the borderlands. You're no bandit, and you believe as much as anyone in the rule of law, in the constitution, in the rights and duties of all Tejanans. Paez and his government has betrayed all that, and worse, left you with no way to have your voice heard. Though you might not like to resort to force, it may be the only way. In times of war, even peaceful men must beat their ploughshares into swords, and bring death to tyrants.
>A villager in the south. Your lands, the lands of your people and your ancestors, have been stolen. Every day the vast estates and haciendas grow larger, and your village's land grows smaller. Your familly starves in hard times, and you will not take it any longer. The land is yours, and you will take it back, no matter how much the blood of thieves and hacendados has to wash it first.
