[38 / 2 / 17]
You are Trooper Catherine (Cat) Thorn.
Having narrowly survived the fight with the Necron Warrior, you discover the situation around the City of Groxbridge has changed radically in the short period in which your squad was underground.
In addition to the Chaos and Tau insurgents already fighting in the city, the Orks and the Necron have returned, only a short while after their defeat one month earlier. Furthermore, the Eldar have arrived in number, but apparently as allies rather than opponents?
Since when has the Imperium tolerated foul xenos?
As the larger concentration of Eldar seem content to defend the northwest of the city from the Necron by themselves, particularly the Brannet neighbourhood, your platoon is instead marching southwards, to where the larger fight with the Necrons is taking place along the southern edge of the city.
Regiments garrisoned further north of the city are driving past you in cargo-8s, chimeras, and commandeered civilian vehicles, but your regiment is near the bottom of the priority list for vehicles, so instead you are expected to walk.
It is brutally hot out, and you find yourself wondering if you are even going to make it to the front lines without passing out from heat exhaustion.
On the other hand, perhaps there is a silver lining to your long march in the sun. As your recent skirmish as demonstrated, the Necrons are nearly unkillable for a squad with nothing but low grade lasguns and a single flamer. Maybe the Imperial forces will be victorious by the time you get there. Or maybe the lines will break and you can find a way to sneak off in the confusion...
You decide you should:
>Think of a way to get to the front lines as quickly as possible. For the Imperium! (and also to find some shade)
>Keep your head down and hope for the best.
>Think of a way to slow things down, maybe get in a fight with some insurgents if you can find any.
>Desert, your platoon won’t last more than a minute on the front lines anyways, and are unlikely to accomplish anything.
Also, in the back of your mind is the issue of all the coins and jewelry you managed to loot just before your encounter with the Necron Warrior.
>Stash it somewhere when you get the chance.
>Hold onto it until you have a better idea of what to do with it.
>Start looking for opportunities to fence the items.
>Start thinking of ways to further loot the treasure room, maybe even reach out to a few officers you know to be corrupt as well to explore opportunities.
>Ditch looted items in case the Commissariat finds out somehow.
