"I'll translate it for you, if you pay me.", you say.
"Very well, we shall pay you. I recon you have no qualms traveling at night?"
You flinch a bit.
"Is something the matter?"
"I've been running all day, could we go tomorrow?"
"Sure. Do you have some place to stay for the night?"
"Not really."
"Then we'll pay your accomodations tonight."
The three of you sleep soundly and by the morning you are ready to travel.
"If the map is right, the temple is that way."
"We already been there."
"I know, but I love a map I can trust."
The trip is largely uneventful until you arrive at a swamp.
"This swamp has a fish that paralyzes you. Stay on the track or you may become fish food."
You travel and travel through the swamp until you reach a dilapidated building. It looks very old.
"Within there are the inscriptions we want you to translate. C'mon in."
The three of you enter the crypt.
It is dark inside, but you can see.
There are a bunch of guys in dark robes within.
"Looks like the next sacrificed has arrived!"
"You lying scumbags!", you say as the dark robed figures surround you.
You cast a spell at one of the robed figures, damaging his robe and causing a wound.
"Oh! A witch! Say, little witch, what do you know about demonology?"
"A bunch of loser who summon hellspawn and sell their souls for nothing."
The cultist laughs.
"I will tell you a tale. Long ago, humans came from the sky. We don't know exactly where they came from, but some legends say they came from the constellation of Andros. Around every star you see in the starry night there are worlds much like our own, with beings that sometimes can travel between worlds. What you call demon cultists, are just people trying to open portals to some of these distant worlds. When we fail, we bring back hellspawn as you put it. Creatures of chaos and destruction. Sometimes we manage to strike deals with them. But our goal is to contact other civilized beings in other worlds. This is very difficult, for often when a world's sages realize they are not alone, and that most visitors from other worlds are malicious, they sever the connection with other worlds."
"Are you trying to establish a connection or sever it?"
The cultist laughs.
"The elves severed the connection thousands of years ago. We can only open tiny portals that lead into places where only the most wretched creatures of those worlds beyond distance exist. Think of it as tiny fish escaping through a net. We are trying to re open the connection and bring advanced humans in here."
"What is wrong with the humans already here?"
The cultist spits.
"These good for nothing humans would rather live as petty kings with ridiculous concerns than embrace their destiny as star travellers. The very magic that brought us here has been forgotten. We are trying to revive this wondrous age, rekindle the flame in the hears of men, and set forth a travel through the stars."
