After a brush with death and another with resurrection, you have at last been reunited with the sister you've long been searching for, JOANNUS. Nothing is ever so simple however, for this accursed land of BAROVIA has taken a heavy toll on her as well as the lion's share of her memories. Your own mind is faring only a margin better after losing your life for a time, your memory having become spotty and your head light as if stuck in a waking dream. Or perhaps a nightmare would be more apt.
You are jolted to the present by the snapping of fingers in front of your face. A woman with curly dark hair and dusky, scar-marred skin raises her brow at you. Her name is Ezmerelda, and you know you are greatly in this woman's debt.
"Feeling alright there, girl? Must have been thinking hard about your next move, your meal's gone cold." She snorts and tilts her chin down towards the ration in your hands.
You blink, taking a glance at your surroundings. Sat in front of a bonfire, Ezmerelda, Joannus, and you have all camped out in the middle of the woods. A wool blanket with a hole burned through the middle of it sits beneath you and your elder sister, a large covered wagon across the fire from you. It's difficult to tell looking up at the ever-overcast skies, but you can assume it's the morning or thereabouts. Even with the safety of your companions and the comfort of the fire, you feel the unease of eyes boring into your back from the impenetrable treeline.
"So, what's your move then?" Ezmerelda asks.
