You ran out of money again. You don't particularly enjoy taking these silly quests for coin, but everywhere the need for swords for hire mean you never really run out of work. Your twin blades, Zara and Kara, are to be put to the service of whoever pays you best.
Sitting on the corner of the tavern for hours now the boredom is getting to you. Then what you were actually expecting comes to pass. A group of young adventurers get together and are perusing a map. You overhear the world treasure a couple times. It's a boy with a sword, a girl in a robe, presumably some type of witch, and a dwarf. The only one who seems to be able to really hold in combat is the tiny bearded guy carrying an oversized axe.
Really, they would be minced meat without you.
"Excuse me, but I heard the word treasure."
"We are on an expedition to recover the fabled Finger Of Doom, a magic artifact that kills people upon touch."
"Won't you die if you touch it?"
"No, no, no. You see, it only works once a day and if you say the magical word."
"And do you know the magical word?"
"Yes, it is in the map."
"Oh, so you have a map?"
"It points us to a place in the Mountains of Desolation."
"I've been there. It is a pretty hardcore place for young adventurers. Not wanting to rain on your parade, but you should reconsider. Just go kill some wolves or rats or whatever."
You turn your back to the young adventurers and go pay your bill. Then you remember you have no money. Damn.
"You're too scared to face some whatever it is in those mountains."
"Trolls. There are a bunch of trolls there. Hard to kill and don't stay dead unless you burn their bodies.", you say, with your back turned to them.
"Well, thanks for the info.", says the girl in a robe,"Would you care to join us?"
"Eeh. Sure. With one condition."
"And what would it be?"
"You pay my tab. I ran out of money."
The adventurers giggle.
"Sure. We leave tomorrow morning."
"Great. These good folks over here are paying my tab, innkeeper. Give me a room, I need some sleep."
You head to your room and lock the door behind you. You check your potion pouch. It only has one last potion. It is...
