6 weeks, it took the Simian Flu, just a month and a half to bring the world to its knees, 6 months on only the major world Governments were left hanging on by a thread. By now humanity had realized that the virus had a 1 in 500 survival rate. As the bonfire of human civilization began to gutter and die, the remaining Governments of the world attempted to hold it all together to act as the last bulwark against the night. In the end, they failed. By the end of the first year, the final lights around the globe blinked out. If it had simply been the Virus that hounded humanity, the 0.002% dregs of humanity could have perhaps rebuilt in time, the fire of humanity greatly diminished but not snuffed out. But mother nature had long grown tired of our meddling so as we fell the Apes rose. By your estimates around 1.78M, humans would have survived the Simian Flu in the United States, however, they are 1.8M apes across the United States. God only knows how many of those lucky human survivors remain after the collapse, but more concerningly how many of those Apes made it out of their enclosers how many more with there be in 1, 2, or 3 years? The world we knew is dead what remains is a planet now up for grabs, as two Sapient Species jockey for the top of the food chain. Only one can inherit this world and the other, Damned to extinction.

It is stocked with everything you will need to rekindle the smoldering ashes of humanity if you make the right choices. Because for you simply surviving the end of the world is not enough. You refuse to be part of the last generation, till your dying breath you will fight to build a better tomorrow, a human tomorrow.
Most of your adult life was spent Preparing for the end of the world it was clear to you that human civilization was running on fumes and had been for decades. So, when your father sold off the old farm for extreme profits you had nothing standing in your way. All that work paid off, when the big one hit you went to the ground and watch the world burn itself out. Now with 2 months' rations left in reserve, and no contact over the shortwave in weeks you have emerged from your bastion into a brave new world.
Carrying your gear in your trusty backpack and armed with your Glock 19 and your late father's AR-15 you’ve made your way out of the hills and down toward the settlement of Dinosaur Colorado. With a population of 250 before the Simian Flu, it’s doubtful anyone is still alive in there, but your nothing if not cautious. Armed with your weapons and backpack you prepared yourself to enter the town via the main road.
You arrive on the outskirts of Dinosaur, and you can already tell this town did not die quietly faded police tape and spay painted X’s can be seen on several mobile homes, the main street is littered with detritus and in the distance, you can make out what looks to be a crashed truck and T boned van sitting in the T intersection. The dinosaur dispensary one of the 3 weed shops in town is a burned-out shell. A quick eye scan of the area shows nothing, but silent homes and waist-high Prairie grass telling you nobody has been here in a long time.

You try not to look at the dried blood and desiccated corpses in the van so as to stop by the truck. You know to your south is the city hall, sheriff’s department, medical clinic, and fire department. Further down the road are the twin gas stations the town hosts, and southeast is the public library. Before you can start to consider your next move, you get the sensation you are being watched. As you scan around you notice details you missed as you walked into town. The tall Prairie Grass has animal trails in them, to your left in front of a building abandoned long before the fall you see a pile of scat, moving over to it, you can tell it’s fresh. A chill runs down your spine as you realize you are not alone. Now on high alert, you move back to the recked Truck to plan your next move. You consider what you have learned, there is at least one animal living in this town, and judging by the scat, and worn animal trails it’s a safe bet there is more than one, possibly a pack of feral dogs, or a big cat with cubs, whatever the case. You know they are here and with the feeling of eyes still on you, you're sure they know you are here as well. Checking the time, you see it’s 9 am it took you three hours to hike from your bunker to here, you still have supplies to last you through another 2 months, but after that, if you have nothing set up for the long run your fucked. Even with the less-than-pristine state of Dinosaur, you think you can still scavenge some good supplies from this place. Further, if the town's lumber warehouse is still standing you will have all the wood, you’d need to secure this place and eventually set up greenhouses. You realize you’re going to have to make a call soon as burning daylight and standing in the open for too long is a bad idea. >You can’t afford to head back you just got here, animals or not you are armed and dangerous. [write in what you do] >Getting killed and eaten by a starving animal after surviving the deadliest pandemic in human history is not how your story ends, your heading back home regearing and figuring something else out.

With a nod to yourself, you begin to make your way cautiously down Stegosaurus Fwy. The feeling of being watched never leaves you for a moment. As you walk you are taken in by just how badly this town was hit, on your right you see the Loaf n’ Jug, plywood boards covering broken-out windows, and a handmade and sun-bleached NO GAS sign hanging in the door. On your left is the Burned-out shell of the National parks Visitor center God only knows why someone decided that at the end of the world they wanted to burn down a visitor center but there it is.
Continuing down the Street with nothing but the sound of your breathing and the wind to accompany you past what was once the dinosaur post office now little more than a burned-out husk, you shake your head in disgust what purpose did burning down the post office serve other than to sow chaos in an already bad situation worse. You carry on moving cautiously still as the feeling of eyes on you never fades. You reach the intersection with 2nd street and see a large empty lot of grass on the right.
Making a mental note of it for later would be a great spot for a greenhouse or more immediately a traditional field. To your left, you see the PickleStop best Ice cream, pickle, and knickknack gift shop in town, and surprisingly mostly untouched compared to the rest of the town so far. You Shake your head and carry on trying to understand how both the state visitor center, and federal post office were burned to the ground, but the gift shop save for the graffiti and abandoned cars out front is untouched. You push forward, now at the intersection of Third Street on your left, you see Christie’s Liquor store…or what’s left of it.
You do suppose that explains the burnt-out buildings, broken windows, door ripped off the hinges, yeah, this place got hit hard. Judging by the exterior the only thing left of value is the building itself and even that is questionable given the interior has been exposed to the elements for months by now. Picking up the pace you continue toward the Police station the feeling of being watched intensifies the whole time. Even with your eyes on a swivel, you can’t see what’s stalking you.

Only to stop shortly afterward, Dinosaur being a small town is very centralized. Meaning that the city hall, fire station, medical clinic, and police station are all clustered together in the heart of the town. And from what you’re seeing this is where Dinosaur’s civil authority made its last stand. On your right you see the Fire station, looking pristine and untouched an oasis of normal in a sea of carnage. If you were a betting man, you would say that the station is the same as the day the firefighters locked it up for the final time. To the left, you see the town medical clinic's defensive police barricades around the front that saw used shell casings and bullet holes mar the ruined vehicles and police sandbags.
Thankfully by some miracle, the building itself looks untouched, you’d have to come back later and inventory the place to see what you are working with. You slow your pace as you weave through the tangle of ruined cars and police blockades finally coming within sight of the Police station. And your heart Drops. You had hoped Dinosaur being a small town in rural Colorado would mean it would be spared the worst of the collapse, but given everything you have seen today, you realize how even you underestimated just how bad things really would become in the collapse of civilization.
The Dinosaur police station was a firebombed husk, with a burnt-out wreck of a large 4x4 truck sitting warped and burned out in the ruin. Exploded cars pockmarked with 556 rounds stand as a silent testament to the last stand of the DPD. Across the way is the damaged but still standing town hall and battle-damaged American flag waves raggedly in the cool January air. Bullet hole covered Plywood covered broken out windows and a heavily damaged sandbag barricade sit in a silent dark entryway.
It looks like destroying the police station was a pyrrhic victory for the attackers and that what was left of the civil authorities won the day. For all the good it did Hopefully there are still Civil defense equipment and communications equipment in there. So that this isn’t a total wash. As your lament the loss of the potential guns and ammo from the police station, you suddenly hear a low growling coming from behind you. You turn just in time to see a massive Doberman pincher poised to launch itself at you, sickly yellow saliva rolling out of its maw. To your dismay, you realize it’s not the only one it’s a whole pack. You can see and hear at least 10 no 12 of them around you all different breeds, You realize you have only seconds to do something, and you…

Bu Bump, As the alpha approaches it snarls with animalistic hatred and hunger; sickly yellow spittle rolling down the sides of its maw, you realize you're out of time. Your pulse quickens, adrenaline floods your system, and your mind shuts off entering fight or flight. Before you can register to do it your body is already charging toward a shot-up, large, sun-bleached Truck just off to your side. Vicious barking from all around tells you the beast will be on you in moments. These are the longest seconds of your life as you close the short distance Jumping as you run your hands meet the wall of the truck bed as you feel a sudden tug on the bottom cuff of your pant leg. The Sensation causes a fresh rush of adrenaline to flood your system as you use your arms to follow through tumbling the rest of the way into the truck bed. As you feel your pants freed as you hear a yelp of pain. Stealing precious seconds to look to your right leg the pants are torn at the ankle but otherwise you're ok, for now. The Alpha narrowly missed your leg, you stand quickly… >Drawing your Crowbar to keep the Dogs at bay, they will have to jump and try to get up here with you, you’re not letting that happen. >Draw your pistol, take a steadying breath, and open fire, breath, hold, fire, breath, hold, fire, just like you practiced. >scramble on top of the cabin of the truck your still not high enough off the ground, >write in

Rolled 22 (1d100) 1/2 You stand quickly drawing your pistol from its concealed holster the familiar grip and metal of your Glock 19 already comforting you as your nerves steady. Back firmly pressed against the Trucks Cabin you take in your situation, and it is dire. Dogs of all breeds once loving house pets now nothing more than hungry feral animals surrounding your position. These Gaunt creatures are clearly in need of a meal and they intend to make you the main course. Something you’re not going to let happen. Focusing on your breathing you block out the Snarling and growling coming from all sides preferring to focus on what is about to happen next. Leveling your Pistol at a large mut that is preparing to try and jump into the wrecked truck bed with you, you squeeze off a single shot. It lets out a yip of pain before crumbling to the ground. Your gaze doesn’t linger on the hound for long as a beagle jumps onto the hood of a car to your right. Intent on lunging at you from its elevated position. Bringing your pistol around you fire again as the growling beast throws itself at you, catching it threw the skull. The corpse hits the ground the killing shot bleeding its momentum enough to make it miss the truck bed. From your left what looks like a sheepdog mut mix tries to jump over the side wall of the Truck bed to get to you. Miraculously or simply weakened by hunger it fails to clear the wall its head and forelegs hanging into your safety bubble hindlegs scrambling for purchase against the truck's smooth frame. With a twist of your body, and a steadying breath you put the once beloved pet turned vicious pack hunter down. With three of their pack dead and the deafening bang of your force multiplies causing serious pain to their sensitive canine ears, the remaining pack seems to be keeping its distance, for now, content to snarl and bark at you for the moment.

Rolled 94 (1d100) Strong calming breaths give you the clarity of mind to properly consider your options. The still adrenaline-fueled part of your mind wants to break out your crowbar and beat the fading alpha to death as a display of dominance to cement yourself as the pack's new Alpha. But the Rational and calming part of your brain kindly slaps you metaphorically across the back of your head. Reminding your adrenaline-fueled half, that’s not how dog packs work and that this isn’t some poorly written B movie. Eying the pack you can tell they are unsure and hesitant ready to break. Making your mind up you step to stand in the center of the Ruined Trucks bed, aim a shot at the downed alpha, and end its suffering. The pack startles at the crack of the weapon. Lowering the weapon to your side you draw in a deep breath, drawing on your still raw emotions, you let out a primal and powerful bellow of fury, face contorted into a mask of rage. A sight sure to put the fear of God into any man, and one more than enough to send these mere animals running for the hills yips and whines of terror following in their wake. Huffing and feeling your nerves as the adrenaline fully fades, your legs feeling just a shakey. You sit on the top of the truck bed wall back to the hollowed-out cab and collect yourself. As you look at the ruined cuff of your pants leg you realize just how close you came to being dog food. Had you not remained called and collected or if you’d been just a little slower on the draw…this could have gone very poorly indeed. Not even a full day out of your bunker and already you nearly lost your life to a pack of feral dogs. Your face scrunches looking as if you just tasted something foul as your mind wanders into dark visions of what could have happened. Deciding that going forward you would need to take more care if you are going to survive long enough to build anything. tearing your eyes away from your plants and ignoring the slight shake in your hand you holster your pistol and take stock of the situation. 4 rounds expended; 3 Feral dogs killed. You look back to the ruin of the police station, once a symbol of law and order, now nothing more than a ruined husk. shafts of daylight filter from in from the collapsed roof and holes in what was once a doorway. It would have taken a miracle for anything of value to have survived that.
